Prayer Dragon by karichristensen Prayer Dragon by karichristensen
This is a six foot tall oil painting I did with with wallpaper, spray paint, and a rake. It was a fun process, however the spray paint is still oozing toxic fumes after two years.

Wow, I know you made this a while ago, but that is a brilliant picture. Really lovely colors and tone, and the details on the face are amazing.

there is something haunting yet beautiful about this piece. i love the sad atmosphere of this - the colors, the style, the pose. and omg the facial expression is just amazing.. it has this somewhat humanistic design in it..or something in which i can't describe - yet it is just too appealing. +fav.

Breath taking. This is such a beautiful picture that its hard to describe how good it is. I guess I can start with the amazing coloring and textures. Both work so well together and tie the emotion and atmoshpere behind the piece, bringing about a grungy and rough look to a very solace and huantingly sad depiction. The mood and atmosphere is simply the best I've seen in so long, its so easily tangible and clear what the dragon feels and what the viewer should feel. Fantastic work.

How you managed to do this marvelous piece with only the spray paint, rake, and wallpaper is beyond me...It does show how truly talented you are.

Brilliant piece! The colors are so cool and perfect...oh it's gorgeous!

I sit here yet I cannot find the appropriate words to express, especially since most people have said all the things I was going to say ...

The first thing I noticed are the teeth, and how they so much resemble the way Stephen Gammell draws his teeth, which drew me to this piece even more.

He does look solemn, as if he is dying, and holding onto a few more minutes of hope.
The moon seems to sort of represent that, to me ...

I adore it.

The dragon in this piece looks very haunting.. Somewhat sad. But it also seems to be concentrating or maybe thinking about something. It gives me a sort of distant feeling to look at it. It's claw seems almost limp, like, the dragon is barely holding it up. The moon in the background looks very realistic, vivid. It fits perfectly with the dragon. The background gives kind of a.. reflection of the moon on the fog look.. All of the colours in shades of blue make it look extremely nice, instead of using seperate colours for the sky and dragon. It looks very realistic in of it's own.. It's a beautiful piece. When I look at it I get a sort of quiet mood to it. It's wonderful. Keep up the good work.
